Since Adeline's birthday is in April and we live in MA, having a huge outside party like we did for Reese's first birthday was out of the question because of weather. We have about 25 kids (under the age of 4) on the guest list, so having the party inside our house was also out of the question. We were hoping to have the kids party at play area, and then celebrate with family on Easter at my dad's house. However, after booking the play place, plans changed and my dad didn't host Easter, we did, but with Todd's side of the family. We still toyed with the idea of hosting extended family (aunts/uncles), but my in-laws were away for a wedding the weekend prior, and Easter was the following weekend after Adeline's kid party, so timing didn't work. Both girls ended up in the hospital right around this time too, so we would have had to cancel anyway!
The day of the party my mom had to work (even though she repeatedly asked for the day off--she's a flight attendant and unfortunately her schedule isn't in her control), and my dad ended up going on a golf trip (his choice), so neither of my parents were there. I was pretty bummed about that, but what can you do! At least my mom was able to spend Adeline's actual birthday with us. My stepdad and my dad's girlfriend, Kathy, were able to attend, so that was great! The party ended up being a huge success, and the kids had a blast!
We held Adeline's party at a new little play place, The Children's Piazza, that just recently opened in a neighboring town. The theme was pink and gold with chalkboard elements. I had chosen (and ordered most things) the theme before seeing the space finished as they were under construction when we booked. Our theme didn't exactly go with their decor, but it was still perfect for my baby girl. I ordered her onesie, tutu, leg warmers, and headband from Etsy. I also ordered the banners, invitations, and chalkboard print from Etsy. I'll link to all of the shops below.
We had to supply the food and decorations, but they provided the photographer! I'm so thankful to have these pictures!
