Letters to Adeline- Eight Months

Adeline,

You turned eight months on December, 9th, 2013 so this is a recap of your eighth month.

Milestones this month:

- Celebrated your first Thanksgiving
- Began standing and holding onto to things once put there.
- Had your first stomach bug :-(

Worth mentioning:

-Your hair is definitely getting WILD- it's growing exactly like Reese's did which is spikey standing straight up down the center in like a mohawk
- You have definitely proven that you want your presence known and have gone from a go-with-the-flow baby, to a demanding 8 month old at times.  These past couple of weeks you just YELL and whine over and over and over again.  We can't make you happy, and think you have a top tooth coming in. I've felt in your mouth and I'm pretty sure that you have a left top tooth that has just started breaking through.  We've had to resort to giving you Tylenol a few times.
- You want to crawl, but haven't figured it out yet.

Adeline 8 Month Stats:

no doctor's app this month, but I did try to weigh you on our home scale and I'm pretty sure you're 19/20lbs my little chunky monkey. ROLLS FOR DAYS. I'd guess you're about 28".

Clothing:  6-9 and 6-12 months, just depends on the brand.

Diapers: Size 3.

Favorite Toys:  You love the car jumper, your activity table, walker, and stacking rings.  We still will sit you next to a box of toys and you love to take each one out and play.  You want every remote control and cell phone and we don't let you have them!

Favorite Past Time: You love to be out and about, are content to watch Big Sister play, and you love the tubby. You also have started to notice the kitty and squeal with delight when you see him. You grab Brady's fur with a death grip and give him big open kisses.  Poor buds.

Communication: You cry when you're hungry or tired, or in pain.  You whine and yell when you're frustrated (like when you are on your belly and can't crawl to get something). The fun has begun!

Cries: Only when hungry, tired, or when in pain (teething).

Bedtime/Nap time:

- We've gotten your bedtime to 7pm, and you are STILL waking up at LEAST once per night, usually between 3-5am for a bottle.  Sometimes you'll wake up at 1am for a binky, or 6am for the day, but most of the time you wake up around 6:45 for the day.  We are TIRED.  This month I thought for sure you were finally starting to grow out of the 1 wake up, but alas, I was wrong.  Things went south when you had the stomach bug because you began to drink far less in your bottles and refuse solids all together.  I figured you were just hungry, and once you were over that, you'd get back on track.  Unfortunately, that has not been the case. We just want to sleep through the night, okay?? Pleassssse...

- You take 3 naps per day. Your first nap is around 9:30am, your second around 1:30, and your last (which I've tried to cut out without success) is around 4/4:30 for only about 45 minutes.

Foods: You drink 5 bottles per day, typically every 3 hours. 6 oz each (except I do 8oz for your nighttime bottle) for a total of 32 oz per day. I also attempt to give you solids once per day, but lately you are unimpressed and don't want anything to do with it.  Honestly? It makes me anxious and I dread mealtimes. It's such a fight.  You turn your head, won't open your mouth, etc.  It's way too reminiscent of how Reese was.  Hopefully we can just start giving you real food, because that makes things so much easier.

Cutting Down Our Christmas Tree 2013

Our annual tradition continues! We went to Tonry Tree farm the day after Thanksgiving to cut our tree down. We had so much fun.  Reese is really starting to understand Christmas, so it was awesome to see her excited about picking out our tree! She calls the tree our "christmastime tree".

Thanksgiving 2013

I'm so far behind on blogging, so let's just pretend this is 4 weeks late.  Anyway, our Thanksgiving was wonderful.  Todd and I had run the 5k in the morning while my mom and stepdad stayed back at our house with the girls and cooked our Thanksgiving dinner! We hosted my cousin, her kids, and my aunt.  It was so much fun!

Here are a few pictures of the day!

My First 5k

Remember how I mentioned back in this post that I had started a new fitness program but not ready to share all of the details with you in case it didn't work out? Well, that my friends, was me training to run my very first 5k! I joined the local Recreation Club for the Couch to 5k program.

I've never been a runner in my entire life, all of the sports/activities I participated in growing up were dance and cheerleading, so running was not a part of the requirement.  After everything I went through with Adeline's delivery, I felt like I needed to do something for me that was out of my comfort zone.  I wanted to attempt running to prove to myself that I could do it.  It was a 3x a week commitment, and was some much needed "me time".

Anyway, Thanksgiving Day was the day of the Earn Your Turkey 5k, and I did it! My friend Kristen had been training on her own (also following the c25k program too), so we ran together.  Todd also ran the race. It was absolutely cold and freezing out the morning of the race, so I'm proud of myself for completing it! And guess what? I actually like going for a jog now.  32:10 was my time.

Here are a few pics from the race:

Coming in hot! Haha! Todd took this picture since he had finished nearing 10 mins before me!

Most supportive husband!

Reese was saying, "Mommy is #1!" Best little fan ever!
