IT'S A...................

GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!! Baby C is a healthy, active, sweet baby girl! We couldn't be more thrilled! We had our 18 week Anatomy Scan (ultrasound) on Tuesday, February 15th at 8am.  I didn't sleep at all the night before because I was a ball of nerves. Of course I didn't care one way or the other gender-wise, but I was nervous about seeing a healthy baby! Add that to the kind of excitement a child has the night before Christmas, and that was how I was feeling.

When we got to the Dr's office it felt like they made us wait forever, but in reality it was probably 10-15mins max.  Our Ultrasound Tech was a sweet woman who looked to be in her late 50's- early 60's.  Right before she began the ultrasound she asked us if we'd like to find out the gender. We barely let her finish her question before we both blurted out an excited, "Yes!" together. As she began the ultrasound she immediately said, "I can see the baby's gender very clearly. Looks like a little girl to me!" I thought for sure when she said that she was going to follow her statement up with "It's a boy" since she said she could see these "parts" so clearly. But, I was wrong.  I think poor T just about fell out of his chair with shock! I had been thinking all along that Baby C was a girl, but T was convinced SHE was a BOY!

The rest of the ultrasound went great! Baby Girl is still measuring exactly 6 days ahead. I was 18w1d at the appointment but all of her measurements were on target for 19w. The tech told me that they wouldn't move my due date since it wasn't 14 days off.  I'm just hoping that Baby Girl decides to come on time which would be a week before my due date on July 11th.  I just can't imagine them letting me go a week past the due date they gave me (July 18th) putting an induction date on July 25th. That's too long!  Baby Girl weighs about 10oz. and is 8 inches long. We were able to see her brain, heart, stomach, umbilical cord, all of her limbs, fingers, toes, spinal cord, and ribs. We fell in love instantly.  She was moving all around and put on quite the show- she's already taking after her Mama (T is in trouble! ;-)). At one point she had her hands over her head, and then waved at us. I just about died- too cute!

I also wanted to note that I received our results from our 1st Tri Screen (I had two rounds of blood work done- the first at my 12 week appointment, and then again at my 16 week).  Everything came back negative (Praise God!) and our results for Downs and Tri are 1 in 10,000.  Looks like Baby Girl is nice and healthy! :-)

We ended up doing our Gender Reveal Dinner with our parents and T's sister later that night. I'll post about that next! So fun!
