21 Weeks!

How your baby's growing:

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.

Baby, fetus at 21 weeks - BabyCenter

I'm going to start including the little snip-it from Baby Center that I receive via email each week.  I think the weight/length is a bit off for us, since Baby Girl is still measuring almost a week ahead, but at least it gives an overall explanation of what's going on in there. For example Baby Center says "your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound", yet when we had our 18 week ultrasound 3 weeks ago Baby Girl weighed 10 oz. So I'm sure she's grown over the last 3 weeks and is about a pound now.

1. How Far Along? 21

2. Total Weight Gain/Loss? 14lbs.

3. Maternity Clothes? Maternity jeans and regular shirts.

4. Gender? GIRL! :-)

5. Movement?

Yes! Baby Girl is a movin' and a shakin'! She is either going to be a tap dancer or a soccer player if you ask me.  The past few weeks she'd just move around when I'd wake up and be lying in bed or a night when I was on the couch watching TV, but now it's a whole other story.  She kicks throughout the day, and even in the middle of the night.

6. Sleep?

Both Friday and Saturday night were miserable. T and I had laid pillows between us in bed, and then I was using one in between my legs to try to alleviate the pressure on my hips/back while I slept on my side- it worked until Friday night.  I tossed and turned all night because I just couldn't get comfortable or stay comfortable so I kept waking up.  This isn't good since we share a Queen bed.  To Target we went yesterday and invested in a body pillow for me for $10.  I decided to not spend $70 on a pregnancy pillow since that seemed a little pricey! Last night was the best night of sleep in a long time.  I was able to have the pillow behind my back and through my legs if that makes any sense.

7. What I miss?

Having toned arms and the desire to go to the gym.  I'm starting Yoga at home today if that counts though!

8. Cravings?

Lots of cereal, citrus, and chocolate frosted donuts from Dunkin's. Don't judge me! ;-)

9. Symptoms?

Still the same pressure down below- which my Midwife said is completely normal. I guess at our last ultrasound Baby Girl was breech (feet down) and I wouldn't be surprised if she favors that position, and puts all of her weight on my bladder/pubic bone.

10. Best moment this week?

Having T come to my Dr. appointment with me on Thursday.  It was awesome to have him with me because we went over all of the results from our 18 week ultrasound/screening.  My midwife, Beth, said everything looked great and very much within normal range. The one thing that she did mention was that Baby Girl was still measuring a week ahead.  I expressed my concern for them having my due date wrong and then letting me go late, have a 10 lb baby, 40 hours of labor, and then after all of that have to do an emergency c-section because the baby is too big to deliver.  Beth explained to us that they don't let patients go past 41 weeks, which for us would put us at July 25th.  However, she did explain to us why they don't like to induce a woman when she isn't ready just because the baby is big. If they induce a woman who's cervix isn't softened and she isn't dilating on her own, the chances of her having a medically induced vaginal delivery are only 50%.  A woman will go into body when her body is ready.    I'm really hoping that Baby Girl decides to take after her momma and make her appearance early (and only be in the 7lb range!).
