Letters to Reese- One Month

To my Sweet Baby Girl,

Happy One month, Reese! It's so hard for Mommy to believe that it's been one whole month since you've come into this world, time is absolutely FLYING by.  I guess that's what happens when you're having fun. Mommy and Daddy cannot imagine our lives without you, you are the light of our lives and we love you so very much.  I guess what they say is true, you never know love at first sight until you become a parent.  This was 100% the case when we first laid eyes on you, Reese, you are just perfect to us.

This month of course has brought lots of first for you: your first car ride, you seeing our home for the first time, your first time meeting the kitties, the first time you got to use your swing, your lamb seat, and your first time taking a tubby. The first time you had a babysitter was when Nonna stayed with us for a couple of days, and Mommy went to Babies R Us and to Target for an hour.  You were 2 weeks and 2 days old. This was hard for me, but I knew it was necessary! You also took your first bottle of pumped breast milk from Daddy when I went to get a massage that Daddy booked.  You were 2 days shy of 4 weeks old, and you took it no problem! We were so proud of you!  The next day we took you into Boston to go shopping at Copley Plaza (you lucky duck!) and you took a bottle again no problem.  Reese, you are just the best baby.

I took you to workout at Barre N9ne when you were 4 weeks and 1 day old to Mommy and Me class.  I was nervous on how you'd do because using the Baby Bjorn is either hit or miss with you.  You did GREAT! You barely made a peep and when I put you in the bjorn you fell asleep while I was doing the legs portion of the workout.  There were 4 other babies there all who are older than you by 3-6 months.  I'm very excited that we have that class to go to not only so Mommy can work out, but so that you can have little baby friends.  It's such a nice thing to do together.

On the day you turned one month old, (August 18th) Nana and I drove you down to the Cape to see Nonna and Papa at their house, and Daddy came down after he got out of work later that night.  This was your first long car ride and your first time sleeping away from home.  You seemed to be pretty fussy that first night we were there, but after that you did great! On Friday the 19th, we all went to the beach for a couple of hours and we dipped your toes in the water! We have video of that moment, and I'll be sure to upload it to this blog.  Later that day, Mommy and Daddy actually got to go on a date out to dinner at Capt. Al's while Nonna and Papa watched you. It was so strange to not have you with us, but we enjoyed our time together, and were so excited to see you when we got back.

Reese, you are a very good little shopper, and that's a good thing because I take you everywhere I go.  People always stop and comment on how beautiful you are! You are actually quite the little star at our pool too, everyone knows your name and asks to see you when we are there. I also took you to the hairdresser last week and you slept the entire time! You opened your eyes when Stacey was blow drying my hair to say hi, but then went right back to sleep.  All of the ladies were commenting on how good natured you are!

You are very strong and have amazing neck control.  Nana can't believe how strong you are and always comments on it every time she sees you. We think you'll be an early walker as you can already stand up on our laps if we hold you.  We have your one month doctors appointment tomorrow and Daddy and I are anxiously waiting to see how much you weigh! You are quite the good eater, and we're sure you're over 10lbs now.

You are most happy and alert first thing in the morning.  You gave us your first smile about a week ago in the morning.  You love to look around and lay on the bed with us.

You continue to be a good sleeper and give us anywhere from 3.5-5 hour stretches at night.  You usually always wake up around 6am and I always pull you into bed with us and nurse you back to sleep. This is one of my favorite things to do with you.

- Diapers: You are wearing size 1 diapers and have been since about 2 weeks.  We used one package of NB diapers, but exchanged the other 2 that we had to get you size 1's.  You still fit into the NB's, but we thought that the size 1's gave you more room and looked more comfortable.

-Clothes: You still wear mostly NB clothes, but some 0-3 months fit you.  The problem with the 0-3's is that they'll fit you lengthwise, but they'll be huge around the arm and leg holes. You are long but skinny! We joke and call you the long and mean machine!

- Feeding: You LOVE to nurse and are still a great nurser. You eat about every 2 hours during the day, and every 3-5 hours at night.

Stats: 8/23/11
