How your baby's growing:
This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with aconehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.
1. How Far Along? 33 weeks (as of this past Friday, May 27)
2. Total Weight Gain/Loss? 28lbs (still holding steady- thank God!) Maybe there is hope to stay at 35lbs!
3. Maternity Clothes? Yes, please! Although some dresses and a lot of shirts are still fitting that aren't maternity.
4. Gender? GIRL! :-)
5. Movement? Lots! Lately T and I kid that she is taking up kick boxing inside the womb. Sometimes her little feet HURT me! Actually, as I'm typing she has hiccups. This happens a few times a day, and happened at my last doctors appointment when the Midwife, Nancy, was checking her heartbeat, ha!
6. Sleep? Still much better- I usually get up around 3am to use the potty. When I do wake up for the morning, I am very sore. I almost forget what it feels like to NOT be pregnant.
7. What I miss? Being able to wear a bathing suit and not feel super self conscious.
8. Cravings? watermelon, green apples, cheddar cheese sticks, skinny cow strawberry shortcake sandwiches.
9. Symptoms? Just pressure. I think I've really lucked out not getting heartburn, swelling, or carpal tunnel like so many women get.
10. Best moment this week? Our maternity photo shoot. :-)
* I had another doctor's appointment this week and was DREADING going after the fiasco last time with Beth making me feel like a MOO COW. This time I saw a new midwife, Nancy, in the Beverly office. It was honestly like night and day. Baby is only measuring a couple days ahead now (not 1.5 weeks), my weight has not changed since my last appointment, and everything else checked out just perfectly (BP, urine, etc.). When I asked again about my results from my glucose test, I was told that everything was PERFECT. No cause for concern whatsoever. I see Beth again at my next appointment (a day shy of 35 weeks, so we will see what she thinks). At that point, there is only a little over a month left. CRAZY!!
