*Pictures taken at 19w 2d (Thanksgiving Day). Please excuse my appearance, this was after my Thanksgiving dinner and I put on pajamas before I remembered that I needed to take a picture! Whoops!
1. How Far Along? As of Tuesday, 11/19/12 I'm 19 weeks pregnant with baby #2! (vs. 19 weeks with Reese)
2. How big is baby?
Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.
Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.
3. Total Weight Gain/Loss? 5lbs. I've gained a lot less this this time (at 19 weeks I had already gained 10lbs, and by 20lbs I had gained 14lbs!), plus my belly looks much smaller. I'm carrying so different this time!
4. Maternity Clothes?
Not yet really. I wore my Gap skinny maternity jeans one day and they were way too baggy. I do have a pair of Gap maternity leggings that I have been wearing and love, because they are super low cut and don't cut into my belly or hurt after wearing them and chasing a toddler all day like other leggings do.
5. Gender? Sweet baby girl!
6. Movement? Okay, so this is where things get interesting. The short answer is no. At our anatomy scan ultrasound last week the tech discovered that I had an anterior placenta. Something that I did not have with Reese. Basically all it means is that my placenta decided to grow on the front of my belly instead of behind like last time. Since it's in front it acts as a pillow so when the baby moves/kicks she is hitting the placenta and I can't feel her. I'm totally bummed out about this- my Dr. said that I should be able to feel movement as she gets bigger and I'm further along. Fingers crossed that that's the case. I will say though, that these past 3 days I have been feeling little pops of movement- which is promising.
Most people say you should be able to feel the baby move earlier with a second pregnancy, so looking back at old blog posts of when I was pregnant with Reese, I read that I felt movement with her at 18 weeks and Todd could feel her at 20 weeks.

7. Sleep? Fine except I seriously feel like someone has been blow-drying my face when I wake up in the morning. I'm so dry!
8. What I miss? Having a glass of wine!
9. Cravings? Nothing stands out in my mind.
10. Symptoms? Not much of anything other than being dry.
11. Worst moment this week?
12. Best moment this week? Getting a perfect report after our anatomy scan. Love hearing that our little peanut is healthy!!

I had an anterior placenta my first pregnancy and still felt crazy movement later on.
ReplyDeleteI'm 17 weeks pregnant with #3 already feeling movement, which is the earliest I've ever felt it.
